I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) at the University of Oklahoma (OU). My areas of expertise include youth information behavior, youth services in public and school libraries, Learning Labs and Makerspaces as informal learning centers, digital age learning, and LIS higher education. As a recipient of the 2014 IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services) Laura Bush 21st Century Program Early Career Development Grant ($354,367), I am currently investigating how students create information during project-based, guided-inquiry STEM learning in different Learning Labs. (Project website: Information Creation in Learning Labs) I teach LIS5193 Books and Materials for Young Adults and LIS5183 Books and Materials for Children at OU SLIS.
